Day 7 – Armor of God

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Ephesians 6: 16

The shield is a defensive piece of armor, usually made from leather and bronze. It was strapped to the soldier’s arm, so he could defend the enemy’s blows or deflect arrows. Shields were solid, heavy, and large enough to cover the soldier with protection.
Likewise, faith in Christ and His blood covers us from attacks of the enemy.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God…Ephesians 2: 8
Faith is a gift from God…but what is it?

Day 6 – Armor of God

…and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  Ephesians 6: 15

Welcome back sweet friends! Thanks for joining me again as we look at the armor of God. Today, we discuss the feet and the importance of good preparation and care.

When my husband was in the Marine Corps, he and his unit would go for long hikes. Miles and miles of marching with heavy gear loaded on their backs. If they did not take care of their boots and their feet, those marches were miserable. And, they could only march as fast as the slowest man, so if one person was not well prepared, the whole group suffered.
Paul encourages us to fit our feet…to prepare and to be ready to go with the gospel of peace. So, what does this mean?

Day 3 – Armor of God

Hello sweet friends! I am so glad you’re here for day 3 of my armor of God devotion. Today we are looking at the breastplate of righteousness and how important it is in our battles.

Righteousness is doing what is right in God’s eyes…to obey Him and His command to love Him and others. And of course, we, on our own, cannot do this. So it is the wearing of Jesus Christ and His righteousness that protects us against the snares and traps of the enemy. To conjure up our own righteousness is like wearing dirty rags.
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. Isaiah 64: 6

Day 2 – Armor of God

I am so glad you’ve joined me for day 2 of my Armor of God devotion. I would love to sit across from you with a cup of coffee and discuss the battles you’ve had, but perhaps, here for a moment, we can learn together.

Today’s post is about the belt of Truth…God’s absolute Truth, and how it guards against the lies of the enemy!

We become vulnerable to enemy attack when we lay down our belt of Truth. If we choose to go into battle without our Truth belt, then when the enemy attacks with lies, we will succumb and lose our ground.

Day 1 – Armor of God

Hello sweet readers!

I have the honor once again to be writing for Messy Life Praying Wife. Won’t you join me for the next week as we dig deeper into the armor of God…what it is and how it prepares us for the battles we face!

“We are commanded twice to put on the FULL armor of God. We do not have the option of choosing which piece we wear for each battle we have. It is wearing all of the armor of God that allows us to stand and fight. Each piece is designed for a specific purpose. Each piece will protect different parts of our lives and even those we love.”
